To be honest, I don't really give a **** about other people can have 8 Mercenary with blah blah blah advantages.

BUT BUT BUT, I want Mhenlo hero instead of Talkora/Ogden/Dunkoro.
I want Cynn Hero for Elementalist, and I want my Eve Hero with Livia QQ.

I spent so much time with henchman and now they're not going to be in my party again because Hero>hench T_T

Not all players buy the Skill packs before starting to play.
Also, you can't get the mercenaries in Factions and Prophecies until you unlock the port town.

For those that lack unlocked skills, there's Henchmen.

But I won't disagree with turning some other NPCs in Prophecies and Factions into Heroes.

For example, in Prophecies:
W Farrah Cappo
R Master Ranger Nente
Mo Priestess Rashenna
E Elementalist Aziure
N Necromancer Munne
Me Sebedoh the Mesmer

Believe it or not, henchmen still have a purpose. They're essential tools for anyone who either doesn't have access to heroes, which would be anyone without Nightfall or EotN, and for anyone who doesn't have skills unlocked for giving their heroes decent bars, which would be anyone that is mostly new to the game.

We don't need to see henchmen eliminated, and it's not like players are broke on heroes either that we need to start dumping them onto players.

Not everyone wants to customize a hero. Especially new players who don't have any skills unlocked. Most henchies provide a template that works at the very least.

I would love it if they did this, even if it was just the core henchies: Mhenlo, Cynn, Eve, Devona and Aidan.
I've played the game for so long, and always taken the core henchies along as much as I could in every campaign, and it would be a shame never to use them again.
I'd happily pay real money for it to be honest. I'd prefer to take them along as heroes over my own characters: a group full of me, myself and I just doesn't seem right

/notsigned. Henchmen were only ever supposed to be filler for parties, making them somewhat useful would ruin their awesomeness. Personally, I still take Alesia as one of my two healers, simply because she's awful.

/signed, not really out of concerns for balance but because I really like a lot of the henchies, some better than the heroes. For example, Ogden is boring, Tahlk is whiny, and I just have an irrational hatred of Dunk (I swear he has worse AI than the other two, I just know it) - but Kihm is awesome. I love her look, I love her lines... but she's kind of crappy as a hench, and it's easier for me to just bring one of the other ones.

So I wouldn't mind the opportunity, maybe, to replace (reversibly, I would hope) one of the 3 existing monk heroes with her (and possibly do the same with other henchies as well - c'mon, isn't Herta vastly cooler than Zhed?)

I just think this'd be kind of nice, especially for the NF/EotN henchies who with 7hero are probably getting no love from anyone who's been playing the game for more than a year.

EDIT: I'm not proposing that henchies be eliminated as henchmen. They're definitely useful for anybody that doesn't have access to heroes/skills for heroes/willing friends with heroes, and for entertainment value. I'm just agreeing that we should get the option to hire them or swap one of our existing heroes out for them (perhaps with the prerequisite of having finished the campaign?)

If you are going to give people the ability to customise their party completely, you should give it to everyone. This way it allows those of us who don't pay the ability to bring whatever combinations we want if we consider that a superior gameplay option for us.
The ability to buy it IS given to everyone. Whether you can't or won't buy the pack is your decision.

That's a horrible argument. By that logic (and I hate to use this argument, but it works in this case), ANet could put a set of PvE skills that are even MORE OP than the existing ones in the store and say that "the ability to Buy it is given to everyone; if you don't want to buy it, then it's your choice to be gimped."

But can we not argue about this, guys? It's been discussed to death in like 5 other threads already. I know it's related to the topic at hand, but I think we can still discuss the topic without retreading this whole debate.
